吳昌碩由篆刻出道，以篆法、書法入畫法，其畫作布局嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)，取法高古，剛勁沉穩(wěn)，氣象渾穆，繪畫作品開金石一脈，管領(lǐng)風(fēng)騷，貢獻(xiàn)卓著。不足之處是其作構(gòu)圖樣式單調(diào)，雷同太多，天趣不足。
