Head coach Luis de la Fuente hailed his players' unity after Spain secured the World Cup title with a 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina in the final on Sunday.
Second-half substitute Ferran Torres scored the winner in the 106th minute as Spain clinched its second World Cup crown and first since 2010.

"They are an example of a team, a group, a family, and a collective of great players that have been exceptional. I'm just so proud to have accompanied them on this journey, to have been there with them on this trajectory is an honour."

下半場補時階段，恩佐·費爾南德斯吃到第二張黃牌被紅牌罰下，阿根廷隊只能以十人應戰。阿根廷隊門將埃米利亞諾·馬丁內斯在比賽中屢屢貢獻精彩撲救，幫助阿根廷隊將比賽拖入加時賽。
Despite dominating possession and looking more dangerous in attack, Spain was constantly thwarted by Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who made 11 saves in the match.
“我覺得這場比賽本可以早早分出勝負，馬丁內斯數次‘神撲’，讓我們沒能更快鎖定勝局。但這是世界杯決賽，即便最后階段對手只剩十人作戰，（我們）也會遇到困難。”65歲的德拉富恩特補充道。
"We tried and tried to get on the scoresheet but weren't able to, but this is a World Cup final, even against 10 men at the end we had to suffer," he said. "But, we like to suffer, and I'll say it again, we were prepared for everything."
帶隊奪冠后，德拉富恩特成為世界杯歷史上年齡最大的冠軍主教練，超越2010年率西班牙隊奪冠時年滿59歲零200天的博斯克。
